Our Top Ten Favorite Movies & TV Shows!

July 15, 2014 // Posted by Lisa & Becca in Top Ten Tuesdays // 0 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we get to make bookish lists!!

This week’s topic: Let’s talk about other types of stories! Top Ten Favorite Movies or TV Shows!
This week we’ve decided to each do five favorite shows AND five favorite movies. So let’s get started! šŸ™‚

Lisa’s Favorites:

TV Shows:

I think you can tell from my favorites that I really enjoy sitcoms. Anything that will entertain me and keep me giggling. Mistresses is different than the others, but after watching the first episode I was totally hooked! The Big Bang Theory is probably my very favorite show right now, along with New Girl. Both are ridiculously funny. The Middle and Modern Family I keep saved on my DVR for those days when I just need something to make me smile.

Again, a lot of similarities between these movies. I never even realized how my favorite shows and movies line up directly with my favorite genres in books. I’m always game for a fun rom com. The few I show above, including Knocked Up, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and My Best Friend’s Girl, I’ve seen at least 15 times each. The Parent Trap (the old-school one with Hayley Mills, NOT the Lindsay Lohan one) was my favorite movie growing up, thus I’ve seen it easily more than 50 times. The Notebook, though I didn’t care for the book, definitely stole my heart. It’s one of the most emotional movies I’ve ever seen. (A close second on most emotional movie would be The Green Mile.)

TV Shows:

Truth be told? I am kind of a TV junkie. I love to watch TV to unwind at night and then curl up with a book just before bed šŸ™‚ I had trouble trying to decide which shows were my favorite… after some deliberation these are my choices!

Suits is an absolutely fantastic show on USA. This one is my favorite of them all! It has drama, humor, intellect and… Gabriel Macht – be still my beating heart <3 I love the entire cast and I wait in anticipation for this show every season! 24 is back! I was a die hard 24 fan and was devastated when the show ended. This new season has been heart stopping, action packed and the show and Kiefer Sutherland are better than ever! What can I say about Grey's Anatomy? After this last season I am not sure where the show goes from here, but I am still a faithful follower and love this show with all my heart. Especially McDreamy and Avery ... swoon šŸ™‚ When I need a laugh New Girl is the show that I put on. Lisa and I both love this show and have watched it since the beginning! It is so funny that I laugh until tears are pouring down my face. I adore Zooey Deschanel and think she is so pretty and funny! The rest of the cast is perfect too! Modern Family is my go to show, if it is on I have to watch it. I love the new episodes but I also love the reruns that show on other networks. Even though I have seen some of the episodes numerous times I will keep watching them and laughing hysterically even though I know what will happen. I love them all but Phil is my favorite!!

I absolutely love movies, I wish that I had more time to watch them! Here are my absolute favorites!

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite movie all time. I love this version with Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen, it leaves out some parts of the book, but you still get the best parts of this beautiful and romantic story and these actors are amazing as these classic characters.

The Notebook… ahhhh The Notebook. It is a very close second to P&P. Besides the fact that I absolutely love Rachel McAdams and
Ryan Gosling, the two of them together in this movie is nothing short of perfect. This is one case where I actually liked the movie more than the book. It is so beautifully done and I love the time period that it is in and how well it is captured in the movie.

Crazy Stupid Love is such a great movie. I laughed so hard and then cried happy tears too. One thing that I loved about this movie was that I could relate to it so much. It focuses on love, marriage, children and family and tells an amazing story. Again Ryan Gosling didn’t hurt and Emma Stone is my top girl crush šŸ™‚ If you haven’t see this – trust me and watch it!

SuperBad may seem like and odd choice but this movie is so funny! The first time I watched it, I was laughing so hard that I had to actually stop the movie to keep laughing. I still laugh hysterically every time that I watch this movie! Michael Cera and Jonah Hill are a perfect team and again… Emma Stone šŸ™‚

Wedding Crashers is my favorite comedy of all time. I have see this movie no less than 12 times and it never gets old. It is funny romantic and such a feel good movie! Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are perfect together (also in The Internship together which is funny too). Rachel McAdams and Isla Fisher round out this cast and make this movie even better!

  • I love watching sitcoms too, Lisa! The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family are the two I follow religiously. I started Parks and Recreation last week and it’s hilarious too! šŸ˜€
And yes to Suits!! I’m so obsessed with that show although the last season has been a bit of a disappointment. You should watch The Good Wife if you like Suits, Becca! It’s actually a lot better than Suits. šŸ˜€ I’m also a huge fan of the P&P with Keira Knightley! The actors had a lot of chemistry together.

  • New Girl FTW!!! šŸ™‚ I really like The Middle, too…so true to life. Like, normal life, not TV life, ya know? šŸ™‚ I’m sure I’ll see The Notebook on a ton of lists today. Not my favorite, but it always brings the tears.

  • Not very familiar with these series. Have watched the first episode of some but that’s it. I love Knocked up, Superbad and The Notebook though!

  • Cool picks. Truth be told, I haven’t watched any of those TV shows. But I love, love How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and the movie adaptation for Pride & Prejudice with Keira Knightley. I think that adaptation is my absolute favorite. Thanks for sharing šŸ™‚
