We've Been Tagged!! The TBR Tag!

October 12, 2014 // Posted by Lisa & Becca in Discussions, Tags // 0 Comments

We’d like to thank Nereyda, Bee and Sara for tagging us in this super-fun TBR Tag!  We really enjoyed this one.  It was a lot of fun to answer these questions.  We also noticed how many books there really are that we’re dying to get to, and how little time there is to read them all!  LOL

So here are our answers.  Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

Becca:

I use both Good Reads and my Kindle to keep track of my TBR. I have multiple categories on Good Reads where I file ARC’s, books I purchased and
books I want to read. On my kindle I have subfolders as well, I have one for Net Galley, one for Edeleweiss, one for general TBR etc. I file books away in the appropriate place so that I can find them easily later.

Lisa:

Well, I use Goodreads for my general list of all books that I’m interested in. Then I have a spreadsheets of ebooks, physical books and audiobooks that I receive for review. I have to stay organized or I’d completely lose my mind!

Is your TBR mostly print or e-books?

Becca:

It is mostly e-book. I have very few physical books, as in less that 50 (although I am expanding my collection slowly but surely). I forget about my actual books because I take my Kindle everywhere and generally choose my next book immediately after finishing the one before. I have no storage for actual books so e-books is the way to go for me.

Lisa:

Mostly ebooks. Though I adore having physical books to showcase on my shelves, feel and smell, I overall would rather read on my Kindle for its sheer easiness. Easier to hold, read, and throw into any bag I’m taking with me when I leave the house. It’s also much lighter than an actual book.

How do you determine which book to read next?

Becca:

Honestly I’m a little OCD and I have a planner where I enter all ARC’s by release date. I also note blog tours, cover reveals etc in it so that I can keep track. I generally try to read all of the ARC’s that I receive (although it has been very tough lately) so after finishing one I open up my planner and see which is next chronologically. Sadly, that is why so many on my TBR go unread 🙁 I’m thinking I need to change that so reading feels less like a job!

Lisa:

Basically, my review spreadsheet. I definitely take on too many review books, something I need to work on. I’m usually reading review books, and if I get caught up or a bit ahead of schedule, then I will grab something I’ve had waiting on my TBR for a while.

A book that has been on your TBR list the longest?

Becca:

Airel (The Airel Saga, #1)
It has very good reviews and when I got my Kindle I was in a huge YA Fantasy stage (I kind of still am) but I just haven’t gotten around to reading this one.

Lisa:

Haven (Winterhaven, #1)

Haven has been on my TBR since December of 2010. Now that I’ve read and loved Magnolia so much, I’m even MORE eager to finally read it.

A book you’ve recently added to your TBR pile?

Becca:

White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements, #1)
Lisa really liked this one when she read it and it recently went on sale so I snatched it up! I mean… gargoyles?! SO cool!

Lisa:

Echoes of Scotland Street (On Dublin Street, #5)

I’m thinking I really need to give this series a try… and this book might just be the perfect place to start!

A Book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover?

Becca:

Imaginary Girls

I really did add this one for the cover. I totally read the synopsis afterwards 🙂 I loved that the water acts as a mirror. The simplicity and duality of this cover just struck me as so beautiful.

Lisa:

The Cure for Dreaming

I’m still not quite sure this book is for me, but that cover keeps telling me to give it a chance.

A book on your TBR that you NEVER plan on actually reading?

Becca:

Les Misérables: Volume One
OK don’t hate on me I have read a lot of classics. Part of me really wants to read this and the other part knows that I never will. There are just too many others ahead of it!

Lisa:

The Host (The Host, #1)

I’m one of those that REALLY enjoyed Twilight.  It really got me started on reading YA, so I think it will always hold a special spot in my heart.  But The Host… I just can’t bring myself to actually read it, even though I do own a copy.  I really doubt I’ll ever read it, honestly.

An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for:

Becca:

All Broke Down (Rusk University, #2)
I absolutely love Cora Carmack and I am so excited to read her next book! I am lucky enough to have an ARC so I will be getting to this one ASAP!

Lisa:

The Fill-In Boyfriend

Picking just ONE is a tad on the difficult side… but I’ll have to go with one of my very favorite authors ever, Kasie West.  I’ve absolutely ADORED every single book she’s written, so I’m super excited for her newest book, The Fill-In Boyfriend.

A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read except you?

Becca:

The Sea of Tranquility
I have wanted to get to this one for so long and my ever growing ARC pile keeps preventing me. But it is one that I have been told a dozen times over to read so hopefully I will soon!

Lisa:

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, #1)

This is the PERFECT time of year to read this!! I own a copy, and I know everyone says it’s really creepy and awesome, so I hope to fit it into my fall TBR this year.

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?

Becca:

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)
Besides the former that I mentioned everyone has been telling me I need to read the Pushing the Limits series and I have several of the books in this series and haven’t gotten to them. I really want to… yet another reason to stop requesting ARC’s 🙂

Lisa:

Something Real

EVERYONE is constantly telling me how amazing this book is, and how it’s exactly the kind of book I will adore. The only reason I haven’t read it yet is because I don’t own a copy. I’ve had to stop all book purchasing recently, so I’m simply waiting until I can buy myself a copy. Fingers crossed!

A book on your TBR that you’re dying to read?

Becca:

Maybe Someday
Seriously? I can hear you all gasping from here! I know, I know, I don’t why I haven’t read this yet since I am in love with all things CoHo! I actually have a autographed physical copy of this that my lovely sis in law Lisa got me for my birthday. I still haven’t read it and I need to… and I don’t mean figuratively… I mean I literally think I here it whispering to me at night…
“Becca… read me….” I think that writing this just flipped my switch to stop with the ARC’s and read this before my psyche implodes!

Lisa:

What I Thought Was True

Again, I have a copy… I just haven’t fit it into my reading schedule yet. Hopefully I’ll catch up with my reviews so I can fit it in in the next few months.

The number of books on your Goodreads TBR shelf?

Becca:

I have 442 books on my Good Reads TBR shelf! Eek!! I also have 142 books in my TBR folder on my kindle (not counting ARCs)… Double eek!

Lisa:

Don’t judge me… 797. 😛

The moral of this story? So many books, so little time :'(

    • Absolutely! It’s a fun one. 🙂

  • Spreadsheets! Now, that’s organization! I think that compared to you guys, I’m a slob 🙂 You’re right, The Sea of Tranquility (I read it in audio and it’s amazing!) and Pushing the limits are both must reads. Maybe Someday was my first Hoover book (also in audio) and I fell in love with her writing. Great job!

The Sea of Tranquility, Pushing the Limits and Maybe Someday are some of my favorite books ever. You need to get on it girl! The great news is that the audiobooks for these are fantastic and won’t cut into your ‘reading’time. Seriously, the guy voices for PtL and Maybe Someday are dreamy!
