This review does not contain any spoilers for Losing the Ice, but may have spoilers for Crossing the Ice, the first book in the Ice series.

WOW! I am an even bigger Jennifer Comeaux fan after reading Losing the Ice!! As many of you know, the first book in this series Crossing the Ice was one of my favorite reads of 2014! When I saw that the sequel was coming out, I could not wait to get my hands on it!! Needles to say I was thrilled to take part in the blog tour. The world of Romance and figure skating that Jennifer Comeaux creates is wonderful and a must read for Contemporary lovers!
Originally, I did not realize that Losing the Ice was a novella. The length seemed good though and it seemed to me that Comeaux wrote this book almost as a building bridge to the final book in the series Taking the Ice (no info released on this one yet, besides the title).

Losing the Ice was exactly what I wanted, without being at all what I expected. Comeaux pleasantly surprised me with where she took the story of Courtney and Josh. I cannot say too much without spoiling the plot, but I will say that Courtney and Josh have to work hard, fight for each other and remember why they fell in love in the first place.
The thing I loved most about this book? It felt so real to me, a couple who hits a road block and has to fight for each other. It was absolutely perfect! It felt as though Comeaux took Josh and Courtney, broke them and then put them back together again and it was absolutely beautiful to experience!

I also loved the character growth in this novel, the Courtney and Josh that we meet in Crossing The Ice are still there, but we get to see others sides of them and even a role reversal. The ever optimistic, sweet and kind Josh was there, but seeing that other side to him surprised me and broke my heart. At the same time, I loved seeing Courtney stand up and be the optimistic and supportive one. It gave me a different view of each of them, which only made me love them even more!

Jennifer Comeaux has impressed me once again and she has quickly become one of my must read Authors! I think that Losing the Ice did an amazing job of setting up the next book in this series Taking the Ice… and I literally cannot wait to see where Comeaux takes Josh and Courtney next… I am only hoping that it is to the GOLD!!

Favorite Quotes

He couldn’t go on like this. The longer he was stuck in this dark place, the more I feared he wouldn’t be able to get out.

We seperated for a momentary breath, and I pressed Josh’s hand to my chest. “Do you feel this? This is what I think of you… what I feel for you. Every crazy fast beat of my heart… all for you.”

With him by my side, I had to believe things would be different because there was one thing I knew with absolute certainty – I was wholeheartedly his, and he was undeniably mine, and there was nothing stronger than the love between us.

I love the quotes, especially the first one. I can really relate to it, I’ve been in that black space myself. I’m interested in how Josh manages to get out.

  • I’m super excited you liked this one too. I really have enjoyed both of the ice books. They give me all the best kinds of feels. Plus it makes me feel knowledgeable about uice skating haha
