I’m so excited to be taking part in this wonderful event to celebrate Huntley Fitzpatrick’s newest book, The Boy Most Likely To! I simply adored My Life Next Door. It remains in my “top favorite books” list to this day. There’s just something about Huntley Fitzpatrick’s writing that I just can’t get enough of.

For this campaign, we were asked to come up with a superlative for our own personal blog. Each blog has to answer the question of “The Blog Most Likely To…” and for Lost in Literature I chose:
Anyone who knows me and Becca knows of our freakish obsession with book covers. I, personally, have purchased way more books than I’d like to admit to, based on their covers alone. Books that I may read some day, books that I will probably never read, and even books that I will definitely never read. (Pretty crazy, right?!) I just can’t help myself. I would line my walls with book covers as wallpaper if my husband would allow it. There’s just something about book covers that pull me in and force me to fall in love. I just can’t say no to a pretty cover! <3 So today I wanted to share some cover love with you guys! (Warning: You may find yourself falling in love with covers featured below for books that may not be for you. I claim no responsibility if you find yourself purchasing gorgeous books just to admire them on your shelf. Read on at your own risk.) Let's start with a few that I bought based on their covers, that I'm actually quite interested in and will definitely read at some point:

These next few are books that I bought based solely on their covers, not even reading the synopsis. So these are book that I may never read, simply because it’s outside of my comfort zone and/or normal reading genre, but I still HAD to have it on my shelf:

These are books that I saw, fell in love with their covers, knew I justhad to read… and then ended up absolutely loving:

And lastly, I have a few books that I tried to read strictly because the covers were so gorgeous… but they just did not work for me:

As you can see, I have a problem with cover buys. I just can’t help myself! #sorrynotsorry

So what are some of your favorite covers? Do you ever find yourself reading a book SOLELY because the cover is too gorgeous not to? What would your blog superlative be?

  • The beautiful and the cursed, YES!!! <3 <3

    • I really should read it, huh? πŸ™‚

  • Love this because I am also a huge judger of covers. I have bought my fair share of books on covers alone. There are definitely some I love the covers and know it wouldn’t be for me but I am still tempted!! Also I LOVE the Damsel Distressed cover so much I don’t know how I don’t have it yet!!

    • That’s awesome!! Cover Lovers unite! πŸ™‚

  • I definitely read/request some books just based on their cover! I love the cover for Mud Vein because it fits the book so well! Same with Unmaking Hunter Kennedy! Even though I think they have pretty covers, if I can tell the book will be high fantasy, that usually puts me off!

    Love your superlative!!

    • I really need to read Mud Vein. I actually have a copy (audiobook, I think), and now that you’ve reminded me of it I just may need to start it next week. πŸ™‚

  • I love this! Though I really enjoyed Between the Devil (series), Alice in Zombieland (series), These Broken Stars (series), Daughter of Smoke and Bone (series) πŸ˜‰

Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!

    • Hehe. I just may need to reconsider giving Between the Devil and Alice in Zombieland a chance. I just couldn’t get into TBS or DoS&B, which actually made me pretty sad. πŸ™

  • Yessss..I have bought or read a book solely on the cover! You are not alone my friend!

    • That’s GREAT to hear!! πŸ™‚

  • I adore covers also! I am nervous because, um, I own most of the books with gorgeous covers that you didn’t like! I DID like The Jewel, but I haven’t read DoSaB yet, or TBS! Scared! Oh man, I just realized that I also own Sway, with a less pretty cover! I don’t think I have ever bought a book JUST because of a cover but… I have definitely bought books I was on the fence about because of the cover πŸ˜‰ Such a fun post!

    • Everyone else seems to really love DoS&B and TBS, so I don’t think you should be worried at all. I had a lot of trouble getting into both stories… but I’m most definitely in the minority there. πŸ™‚

  • Love this post,so many pretty covers! I’m also a sucker for reading/buying books based on the cover (: A lot of times I’ll buy a book because of the cover, but may never get around to reading it, haha. I’m thinking of reading The Martian by Andy Weir because of the cover xD.

    • I’ve bought books because of the cover and never got around to reading it SO MANY TIMES!! It’s actually quite embarrassing. LOL Gotta love those gorgeous covers!! πŸ™‚

  • I love your superlative, ha! I’m pretty much the opposite – while I LOVE a good cover, I won’t buy the book unless I know I’m gonna read it. But it’s especially nice when we get a cover reveal for a book I’m really anticipating and it turns out to be gorgeous. πŸ˜€

    • Your way is DEFINITELY easier on the budget for sure! LOL! I have SO MANY books on my shelf that are gorgeous that I may honestly never read. I’m trying harder to ONLY buy books that I will definitely read, but the struggle is real! πŸ™‚

  • I’m really excited for this one. My Life Next Door was a favorite read as well (I think I almost like it more now than when I first read it) and still has one of my favorite contemporary YA covers ever. I do love book covers. I mean, how could I not?!! I do try to limit the obsession a little though. The best thing is when I want to read a book and it has an amazing cover and the book turns out to be just as amazing on the inside. πŸ™‚

  • I LOVE pretty book covers<3 They'll always a reason I'll be more interested in a book. I've never bought a book just because of the cover though. πŸ™‚ That I remember anyway…

I'm so happy with your Read and Loved choices! I haven't read any of those (though I own three of them). I featured the middle three in past cover features on my blog. πŸ™‚ Damsel Distressed is my favorite.

I really like the These Broken Stars cover! Or at least I love the colors.

Some of my favorite covers are Because You'll Never Meet Me, More Happy Than Not, Even In Paradise, The Wrong Side of Right, Like It Never Happened, Written In The Stars, Making Pretty and Every last Word.

I don't know what my blog superlative would be really! Oh, maybe The Blog Most Likely To Obsess Over Musicals or The Blog Most Likely To Go Insane Over Book/Song Associations. Aka, really long superlatives. Ha.
