Olympic rings and an engagement ring.
Courtney Carlton is ready for both.
She and her boyfriend Josh have skated together and dated for four years, and they’ve reached a critical point in their partnership both on and off the ice. With the Winter Games coming up and their career nearing an end, they are fighting to win a spot on the Olympic team, something Courtney has dreamed of since she was ten years old. She also has another wish she hopes comes true soon. She’s waiting for a marriage proposal from Josh that she expected to happen by now. Will she realize either dream or will her heart be broken from disappointment?
There will be no spoilers for Taking the Ice in this review but it will have spoilers for the first two books in the Ice series!
The Ice Series has become an absolute favorite of mine! Ever since I read the first novel in this series Crossing the Ice I fell in love with Courtney and Josh’s story and couldn’t wait to see where Jennifer Comeaux took this fun and adorable couple next!
Taking the Ice is a novella and is the final book in Courtney and Josh’s story. In Crossing the Ice we see them compete against one another and fall in love. Then in Losing the Ice we see them come together as a team and fight through heartbreak in their careers and relationship. Finally in this conclusion their story is completed and it was such a sweet and beautiful ending! It’s official! I have loved each and every second of this series!
I was so excited to see Courtney and Josh take the next steps in their lives and career! Throughout this novella we watch as they fight to get on the Olympic team and as they become closer than ever! I was so pleased with the conclusion of Courtney and Josh’s story! In truth, I wanted a but more from this ending though. I wished there was more of the skating competition View Spoiler »I would have loved to read about their pairs skating at the Olympics « Hide Spoiler and I also wanted more of their future even! I was excited when I saw there was an epilogue, but I definitely thought there would be more in it!View Spoiler »I was super bummed out not to be at their wedding « Hide Spoiler I know that Jennifer Comeaux will continue on with other characters from this series and I am absolutely dying for Liza to get her own book/series!
Jennifer Comeaux does such an amazing job of combining the world of figure skating and romance! She is a talented writer and it is unbelievable to me that she writes in her spare time after working a full time job! She has mad skills and I will continue to be a fan and read her novels because they are romantic, fun and the figure skating world that she creates is perfection!!
“We sank into a deep kiss, all softness and heat, and nothing else mattered. Not engagement rings, or Olympic rings.”
Taking my hand, he laced our fingers together and kissed my knuckles. “We are an unstoppable, unbreakable entity.”
“The purple rose symbolizes enchantment, and that is what I felt the very first time I saw you and what I still feel every moment that I’m with you.”
Trust your body. Trust your heart. Let your beauty and your strength shine.
“You and I were meant to be here. In this place. In this competition. In this moment. This is our time.”
“Be one body, breathing together. One heart, beating together. Embrace the power of your love for each other, and you will do amazing things.”
