It’s tag time!! We love tags here, so when we saw this one around the blogosphere, we knew we wanted to give it a go.

Warning: some of these, because of the nature of the question, may contain spoilers. Read on at your own risk.

A BOOK THAT TOTALLY SHOULD’VE HAD A SEQUEL

He Will Be My Ruin  Faking It (Losing It, #2)

LISA: This book, guys.  It totally slayed me. As far as a sequel goes, I just would have LOVED more of this story.  Maybe not a sequel, so much as JUST MORE OF THE THINGS!

BECCA: I just loved Max and Cade’s story so much and I STILL need more and think of this couple often! I even discussed a sequel for them with Cora at a book signing and she said they are the only couple she has considered it for! Maybe someday…

A BOOK OR SERIES THAT TOTALLY SHOULD’VE HAD A SPIN-OFF

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)  Shadow and Bone (The Grisha, #1)

LISA: I think anyone who has read Harry Potter can agree that we’d LOVE to read spin-offs!!  Basically anything having to do with this world is a positive thing to me.

BECCA: I totally think that Sturmhond should have his own series! I love that snarky pirate (ahem… privateer) so much and he NEEDS his own spin-off series!!

AN AUTHOR THAT SHOULD TOTALLY WRITE MORE BOOKS

The Sea of Tranquility  The Sea of Tranquility

LISA: The Sea of Tranquility is one of my favorite books, ever! I absolutely adored every single thing about it.  Katja Millay’s writing was perfection and the story was just EVERYTHING!  I would do all kinds of crazy fangirl dancing if Katja wrote another book.  I need MORE!

BECCA: Lisa did this post first and I considered picking someone else but I just couldn’t because I whole heartedly agree! Katja Millay blew me (and many others) away with this book and I would love to read more by her!

A CHARACTER WHO TOTALLY SHOULD’VE ENDED UP WITH SOMEONE ELSE

The Selection (The Selection, #1)  The Heir (The Selection, #4)

LISA: I’m just not a fan of these two.  At all.

BECCA: Okay Lisa and I adisagree on The Selection, I was happy with the guy America ended up with! On the other hand, the guy that her daughter Eadlyn ended up with? Nope, not the way I wanted it.

A BOOK THAT TOTALLY SHOULD’VE ENDED DIFFERENTLY

Me Before You (Me Before You, #1)   Me Before You (Me Before You, #1)

LISA: Alllllllll the feels!

BECCA: Again I had to pick the same one! Because… well if you’ve read it then you know why…

A SERIES THAT TOTALLY SHOULD’VE HAD A MOVIE FRANCHISE

Shadow and Bone (The Grisha, #1)  Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1)

LISA: I’d love to see The Grisha as a movie franchise.  Can you even imagine how amazing that would be?!

BECCA: Will Herondale in real life?! OMG I would love to see this series as a movie!

A BOOK OR SERIES THAT TOTALLY SHOULD’VE BEEN A TV SHOW

Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)  Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1)

LISA:  So I may be speaking too soon here, as I’ve only read the first book in this series… but I can totally picture this gorgeous story as a TV Show.  I feel like there are so many books and so much information in this series that a movie franchise probably wouldn’t do it justice.  However, I think a movie series would be perfection!

BECCA: OMG if the Lunar Chronicles was a TV Show series I would TOTALLY tune in every single week!

A BOOK THAT TOTALLY SHOULD’VE HAD ONLY ONE POINT OF VIEW

The Infinite Sea (The 5th Wave, #2)

LISA:  I’m stumped.  I honestly can’t think of one.  I’m a huge fan or multiples points of view, and I can’t think of a single time that I wish there had been only one.  Hmm….

BECCA: After only 2 POV’s in The 5th Wave I really struggled with the Infinite Sea. There were just so many POV’s and multiple times I was so confused about who was talking. I don’t know if I would have wanted only one POV? But definitely less!

A BOOK OR SERIES THAT TOTALLY SHOULD’VE HAD A COVER CHANGE

Heist Society (Heist Society, #1)  Sea Spell (Waterfire Saga, #4)

LISA: Let me start by saying that I haven’t read this series, but I’ve had it on my TBR for quite some time.  The cover is just so off-putting!  From what I know, this is supposed to be a crime/mystery YA book… and this cover does NOT look like that to me.  I just wish it was a more intense, crime-ish cover, if that makes sense.  If it had a more eye-catching cover,  I probably would have purchased and read it by now.  I just don’t like this cover AT ALL.  (And the entire series looks basically exactly the same as this one.)

BECCA: I love the covers for the entire Water Fire Saga, but the most recent one for Sea Spell is just not for me.I’m not sure what it is… but it just looks so odd to me!

A BOOK OR SERIES THAT TOTALLY SHOULD’VE KEPT THE ORIGINAL COVERS

An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1) An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1)      Dangerous Girls Dangerous Girls

LISA: I don’t hate the new cover, by any means… but I just LOVE the original so much more!!!

BECCA: I feel like the original cover for Dangerous Girls captured the feel of the book so much better than the second one!

A SERIES THAT TOTALLY SHOULD’VE STOPPED AT BOOK ONE

Divergent (Divergent, #1)  The Murder Complex (The Murder Complex, #1)

LISA: Let me be straight here… I never finished this series.  I LOVED Divergent, so, so much… but then struggled my way through the first half of Insurgent.  I finally gave up and called it a day.  I never finished, nor do I have any plan to continue.  I wish this series had started and ended with Divergent.

BECCA: The first book in The Murder Complex was pretty good but the sequel was just not for me. I would’ve liked to see this series stick to one book.

  • Ooooh, I’d love to see THE INFERNAL DEVICES hit the big screen! Hopefully they’d do a better job with it compared to the City of Bones movie, haha. Loved seeing your thoughts on these books! Great tag and thanks for sharing 😀

  • A Harry Potter spin-off would be like… a dream come true.
A spin-off about Harry’s parents and their friends or a spin-off about Harry’s children – I honestly don’t mind as long as it takes place in the Harry potter world and has at least 3 books 😀

Ah yes, I heard all about Me Before You ending.
And even though I haven’t read the book – I refuse to read it after hearing about the ending – I have to agree. if only this book ended differently… I think it would have still been just as amazing as everyone say it is.

As much as I would love to see The Infernal Devices as a TV showmovie, I also really-really doesn’t want this to happen.
Not after… The Mortal Instruments movietv show. *shudders*.
The Lunar Chronicles though! OMG, I always said this series should totally be made into a TV show. Can you imagine the awesomness of it? I even said so in my own Totally should have books tag 😀
And a throne of glass TV show… made right, it could be EPIC.

I get what you mean about Divergent.
The first book was the best. It was fantastic and I loved it so much.
And while I did love the second book as well, it wasn’t as… the first one. Not to mention, it left you in a cliffhanger and considering I refused to read the third book… things were left unwrapped. Even though the first book didn’t wrap up all that neatly, it was still far-far better of an ending than what we got in the second and third book.
So I agree. I think it should have ended with book 1.

Great tag! And great answers! I totaly agree (:

    My blog: http://magiverse.blogspot.co.il/

  • Totally agree with your original cover choices!! Divergent should have totally stopped at one book or the other two could have been better. Especially the final book UGH. And YES to more books by Katja Millay!

  • I agree with HWBMR! I need MORE!! Also, I wish AEitA had kept the original cover. I like the new one but I don’t know. The first one felt more like the story. I agree with Becca on America. I actually only read the first book but I know who she ends up with and I totally approve. I disagree on Me Before You. I mean, it’s really sad but I feel like if the ending had changed, it wouldn’t be the book it is. It would just be a regular book like any other, and I’m glad it isn’t. I’m glad it’s different.
    Thanks for sharing, ladies!

  • I’d love a Harry Potter spin-off. That would be a dream come true. <3

  • Brookie Cowles

Yes, Will Jerondale on TV? Absolutely! As for your other pics, I will now pick up the sea of Tranquility. I loved all the picks. I think I will do a post like this today also.

  • Danielle Hammelef

I totally agree on the covers and Divergent. I haven’t read the others but I’m guessing you’re spot on there too.

  • LOL the cover for Sea Spell is literally the worst thing I have ever seen. Some terrible CGI mermaid looking bizarre in some ice world? OMG I crack up EVERY TIME I see that book at Barnes & Noble (which is basically every time). I feel so bad for the author for having gotten such an amateur cover!
I also agree with Divergent stopping at book one. It just went downhill from there!

  • kindlemom1

I would have loved LOVED an H.P. spin off! Fun tag, thanks for sharing it ladies and have a lovely weekend!

  • Oh oh I was saying the same thing about #NEEEEEEDING a Sturmhond spinoff series on instagram the other day and someone said that Leigh Bardugo had been talking about it. So there’s hope?!?? *shrieks with need*
I also agree about the Ally Carter series covers. :/ But to be honest, the books are kind of fluffy too, instead of more serious crime books, so maybe the covers do warn us about that.😂 But yeah they don’t do anything for me either!!

  • Loriimagination

I can definitely agree that a spin-off of HP would be awesome. Sturmhond so so so needs his own series! Gosh, I love him.

I don’t love the Heist Society cover but I think they sort fit the series. They are pretty glamorous, Ocean’s Eleven-esque thieves. It’s a really really fun series! Don’t let the covers throw you off!

I read and enjoyed Divergent but have zero interest in continuing the series. 🙂

  • I so agree with a sequel for Faking It! That was my favorite of the series. I just loved Cade and Max and would love to have more of them. I can’t believe I haven’t read the Shadow & Bone trilogy yet. What am I doing with my life?!
