I know how to watch my back. I’m the only one that ever has.
India Maxwell hasn’t just moved across the country—she’s plummeted to the bottom rung of the social ladder. It’s taken years to cover the mess of her home life with a veneer of popularity. Now she’s living in one of Boston’s wealthiest neighborhoods with her mom’s fiancé and his daughter, Eloise. Thanks to her soon-to-be stepsister’s clique of friends, including Eloise’s gorgeous, arrogant boyfriend Finn, India feels like the one thing she hoped never to be seen as again: trash.
But India’s not alone in struggling to control the secrets of her past. Eloise and Finn, the school’s golden couple, aren’t all they seem to be. In fact, everyone’s life is infinitely more complex than it first appears. And as India grows closer to Finn and befriends Eloise, threatening the facades that hold them together, what’s left are truths that are brutal, beautiful, and big enough to change them forever…

Why I’m waiting: I basically see Samantha Young’s name and immediately click the to-read button. I just love her writing!! But this one especially snagged me with that synopsis. Really looking forward to reading this!

Becca’s Pick:

WoW: The Impossible Vastness of Us + Poison’s KissPoison's Kiss
by Breeana Shields
Series: Poison's Kiss #1
Release Date: January 10th 2017
Publisher: Random House Books for Young Readers
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult
Find It: GoodreadsAmazon

A teenage assassin kills with a single kiss until she is ordered to kill the one boy she loves. This commercial YA fantasy is romantic and addictive—like a poison kiss—and will thrill fans of Sarah J. Maas and Victoria Aveyard.
Marinda has kissed dozens of boys. They all die afterward. It's a miserable life, but being a visha kanya—a poison maiden—is what she was created to do. Marinda serves the Raja by dispatching his enemies with only her lips as a weapon.
Until now, the men she was ordered to kiss have been strangers, enemies of the kingdom. Then she receives orders to kiss Deven, a boy she knows too well to be convinced he needs to die. She begins to question who she's really working for. And that is a thread that, once pulled, will unravel more than she can afford to lose.
This rich, surprising, and accessible debut is based in Indian folklore and delivers a story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Why I’m waiting: Oh my gosh this book sounds fantastic!! Sure the cover caught my eye first but that synopsis hooked me!!

How are neither of these on my TBR yet? Poison’s Kiss definitely sounds like something I’d like! I haven’t read anything from Samantha Young yet. How is that possible?

  • I really enjoyed Poison’s Kiss, and I hope you do too! Both wonderful picks 🙂

  • Huh, I had no idea Young was writing YA books! That is pretty cool. I’ve not read any of her adult books but I loved her NA book Slumber. 😀 Becca, it looks like you don’t have to wait any longer for Poison’s Kiss, which is awesome! I hope you both enjoy these books when you get the chance to read them. 😀

Have a wonderful week, ladies! =)
