From New York Times bestselling author, J. Daniels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE novel.

Riley Tennyson has made a huge mistake.

At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself.

Showing up to her brother’s wedding pissed off and newly single, Riley seeks comfort in solitude and an open bar, until the gorgeous and irresistibly charming CJ Tully makes her a better offer―a wild night with the master of smooth-talking where nothing is off limits.

Riley does what any single woman would do, and a connection is made. One neither one of them can ignore. But when she comes home to the boyfriend she no longer thought she had, Riley buries her secret and begs CJ to do the same.

Forget about each other. It was a mistake. That’s all it was… right?

Desires are hidden. Distance is kept. Until one night CJ makes the ultimate sacrifice, and Riley can no longer avoid the man she can’t stop thinking about.

Not with him sleeping down the hall…

Where do I even start?! Most of me wants to start with CJ Tully! But I should really wait to dive into that! This was my first book from J Daniels Bama Boys series and I loved it so much that I have already listened to the first book in the series Where I Belong on Audio and loved that one too! I definitely plan on reading all of the rest in this series very soon!

After a horrible fight with her huge jerk of a boyfriend Riley escapes for the weekend to her Brother’s wedding newly single. She is a bridesmaid and meets one irresistible groomsmen, CJ Tully! When he offers her a very wild and exciting weekend with him, Riley decides to take him up on it, as long as her Brother doesn’t find out! When she returns home with plans to move out of her ex-boyfriends home she discovers they are not as broken up as she thought and she has to forget all about the electric connection she had with CJ and remain “friends only” with him while trying to work things out with her boyfriend. However, things don’t work out exactly as Riley planned and after a horrible incident she ends up a lot closer to CJ than she intended.

“I didn’t know there was different, and when you don’t have different to compare to, you don’t question what you have. You don’t know better until you’re with better.”

I really loved Riley! She was so sassy and fun! She had a good head on her shoulders and knew exactly what she wanted in her career and for her future! The one thing that drove me crazy was her loyalty to her boyfriend! I just wanted her to dump him! Ugh he made me so mad! Admittedly though I was ALL about CJ from the first Darlin’ 😉

“Darlin’? Did CJ Tully just darlin’ me?”

CJ was SO just… *swoon* sexy and confident and the kind of supportive guy that many women dream about. I fell for him pretty much immediately! He and Riley decide to be friends while she is with her boyfriend, and their friendship was just so fun and adorable and one of the things I loved about them together. Then the romance comes in and oh boy! The chemistry between them was off the charts! At one point the slow burn was so built up I swear the pages were on fire! I loved, loved, loved the connection between Riley and CJ, their banter, their support of one another and of course the sparks that flew when they were together!

“He’s sweet and he’s good. GOD. he’s such a good man, Beth. And he says things to me and I think… every girl need to be with someone who talks to them like this. He’s that guy. There isn’t better. I know in my heart there isn’t.”

I also really enjoyed the other characters that were in this book, they were mostly all from the previous books and each played an important part in this one. They are a close group of friends that I just loved seeing together! That is what instantly made me want to read all of their stories too!

J Daniels has made her way onto my must read Author list! She writes sexy and fun contemporaries that make your heart swoon! I cannot wait to dive into more of the Bama Boys series and to see what she comes up with next!

I have to start off by admitting that I haven’t read any of the other books in this series. Since these are companion novels, this one could be read as standalone… and when I was sent a copy of WHAT I NEED by J. Daniels, I immediately dove into it headfirst. At this point I can definitely say that I WILL be going back and reading the other books in this series now. I’m dying to get to know these Bama Boys on a deeper level!

“I’m lost. So far gone to this kiss. I’m not thinking about anything besides his soft mouth and his rough hands and the scratch of his beard as it burns my skin and hopefully leaves evidence of tonight.
Whatever happens, I want to remember this.”

CJ Tully. *sigh* He’s my ideal book boyfriend. Assertive, mature, self-confident, and decisive. He knows exactly what we wants. Perhaps it’s because he’s in his thirties, so much more mature than other guys we read about in their early twenties. But I just loved his go-get-her attitude! He knew what he wanted, and he went for it. Major props to my man, CJ Tully!!

“Do you feel how good we got it?”
“I feel it.”
“It’ll never be less than this, darlin’. Never.”

The chemistry between Riley and CJ was intense. I really enjoyed these two together and was routing for their happily ever after the whole story. Yes, Riley’s ex-boyfriend was pretty horrific and a total asshat… but even putting him aside, I just loved the adorable connection Riley and CJ had together. How playful, silly and fun they were, and how you could just tell they really enjoyed spending every minute together, regardless of what they were actually doing. Basically, they didn’t just have a romantic connection… they were wonderful friends as well. Connection perfection!

I’ll just end this by saying this is a must-read for romance fans!! J. Daniels is one of my faves for a reason. Her stories are never too-good-to-be-true to the point they’re unbelievable, but instead swoony, romantic, and always on the realistic side of the spectrum. The perfect romantic comedies. Whenever I’m not sure what to read next, I go to J. Daniels. Add this one to your TBRs, guys!! Now, the most important question… Who wants to ride the Tully Train!?!?!
