A full-length STANDALONE romantic comedy from USA TODAY bestselling author R.S. Grey.
When your life is a hot mess at twenty, it’s cute. At twenty-seven…well, not so much.
It’s just that my lofty dreams—making it as a real estate agent, paying rent on time, showering daily—have stayed just that: dreams. Oh, and love? I’ve decided love might be a little ambitious for me at the moment. Instead, I’ve settled for the two guys who will never leave me: Ben & Jerry.
That is, until Dr. Adam Foxe takes up residence as the town’s new vet.
With his strong jaw, easy confidence, and form-fitting scrubs, it’s not long before every housewife in Hamilton is dragging neglected tomcats in for weekly checkups.
Like everyone else, I’m intrigued. Even after I spoil my chance at a good first impression, he still offers me a proposition I can’t refuse: play his girlfriend at a family function and he’ll hire me as his real estate agent. Welcome to love in the 21st century.
It’s too bad I underestimated Adam’s irresistible charm and the undeniable attraction that burns between us. The day he pins me to the wall and silences me with a kiss, the line between reality and ruse begins to blur. Every teasing touch brings me to my knees. Every kiss promises more.
It looks like my hot mess of a life is about to get a little hotter.
“I didn’t plan to be this dysfunctional at 27, but dysfunctionality has a way of creeping up on you. One second, you’re 22, wrapping up your undergraduate degree from a top business school, and then suddenly, you’re sitting alone in your car at 27, wondering how five years slipped trough your fingers without so much as a blink.”
I have been wanting to read an R.S. Grey book for quite some time, as a matter of fact I have several on my kindle just waiting for me! When I was given the opportunity to participate in The Foxe and the Hound blog tour I jumped at it! I was so excited to start my first R.S. Grey book! I am happy to say that I really enjoyed my first Grey experience! The Foxe and the Hound was adorable, fun, swoon worthy and a little bit silly at points. Like a hilarious Rom-Com in print. I enjoyed every second!
Madeleine is a twenty something real estate agent who full admits that her life is a hot mess. A struggling career, a tiny apartment she can barely afford the rent on, a car that won’t start most days and an adopted puppy she named Mouse before she found out just how large he was actually going to be. Life does not seem to be going her way, until sexy veterinarian Adam Foxe moves to town and there is a hilarious meet cute and an instant attraction forms.
I really loved Madeleine, she was quirky and funny and adorably hopeless (in truth she kind of reminded me of myself LOL). Her struggles in life and her hilarious inner monologue endeared me to her right from the start! I had a bit more trouble with Adam. Since this book is told in dual POV I learned a lot about both of them. Adam moved to Texas from Chicago after the break up of an 8 year relationship. He came with a lot of baggage and no real plans to make roots. Initially I had trouble liking him, although as the story went on he really grew on me. The romance between the two was not instant and I loved all of the silly and comedic moments that led up to it. By the end I was grinning from ear to ear and loving the banter between these two. I had some real life warm fuzzies in my heart after reading the last pages.
I’m not gonna lie, my favorite character was probably Mouse, Madeleine’s bull mastiff puppy with big paws and an even bigger heart. He won me over completely! I am a true dog lover and love books with animals in them! Grey truly stole my dog loving heart with Mouse 🙂
This was my first R.S. Grey book but it will most definitely NOT be my last! Her writing flows so easily, is am awesome mix of comedy, romance and swoon! I will definitely be reading more in the near future! Starting with those books on my kindle 😉
“He leans forward and presses a kiss to my cheek. It’s so romantic and soft. I want to capture it in a mason jar and preserve it for later.”
