The most romantic place she never wanted to be . . .
Pepper Knight moved to Everland, Georgia, as step one in her plan for a successful legal career. So when the town vet-and her sexy new neighbor-offers Pepper a temporary dog-walking job, she jumps at the chance. No one needs to know that man's best friend is her worst nightmare . . . or that Everland's hot animal whisperer leaves her panting.
The last thing Rhett Valentine wants is to be the center of small-town gossip. After his first love left him at the altar, he's been there, done that. These days, life is simple, just the way he likes it. But sultry southern nights get complicated once sparks fly between him and the knockout next door. When she proposes a sexy, secret fling-all the deliciousness and none of the prying neighbors-it seems too good to be true. And it is. Because Pepper's determined to leave Love Street, and when she goes, she just might take his heart with her . . .

It Happened on Love Street is the first book in the Everland series, which is a series based in a small town in Georgia. This is the newest Adult series by Lia Riley. I have loved everything I read by Lia Riley, from the Off the Map New Adult series to the Adult Brightwater series so I was very excited to start her new series!

The story begins with Pepper, a woman who uproots her entire life in the big city and moves to the small town of Everland, Georgia for a job that she hopes will give her career a boost. Unfortunately once she arrives the job falls through and she is now stranded in this town. Enter her sexy next door neighbor Rhett, one of Everland, Georgia’s most eligible Bachelor’s and the town veterinarian. He has a whole Clark Kent appeal with his button up shirts and glasses. Yup hes pretty swoony! Together these two had so very sexy moments and some very hilarious moments!

I love how Lia Riley manages to bring both romance and humor into her books. I mean poor Pepper has a fear of dogs and ends up with a job as a dog walker! The residents of this little town witnessing all of her hilarious missteps and making her look like a crazy city girl!

I think my favorite part of this story was this quirky little town and all of it’s gossipy, yet somehow endearing inhabitants! This small town in a way reminded me of Stars Hollow from the Gilmore Girls. It just had that close, family hometown feel.

Admittedly, I think that I enjoy Lia Riley’s New Adult romances a bit more, but I am excited to see what comes next for this series! She is such a fun writer and she will always keep me coming back for more!!

About Lia Riley

Lia Riley writes offbeat romance. After studying at the University of Montana-Missoula, she scoured the world armed only with a backpack, overconfidence and a terrible sense of direction. She counts shooting vodka with a Ukranian mechanic in Antarctica, sipping yerba mate with gauchos in Chile and swilling XXXX with stationhands in Outback Australia among her accomplishments.

A British literature fanatic at heart, Lia considers Mr. Darcy and Edward Rochester as her fictional boyfriends. Her very patient husband doesn't mind. Much. When not torturing heroes (because c'mon, who doesn't love a good tortured hero?), Lia herds unruly chickens, camps, beach combs, daydreams about as-of-yet unwritten books, wades through a mile-high TBR pile and schemes yet another trip. Right now, Icelandic hot springs and Scottish castles sound pretty sweet.

She and her family live in Northern California.

I finished reading the book last night. I love the characters and Pepper had me laughing out loud quite a few times. Enjoyable read.

  • I liked this one too. I liked her Brightwater series more (I haven’t read her NA books) but this was cute. I definitely want to read more from the series.
