James Patterson presents a bold new heroine--a cross between Katniss Everdeen and Annie Oakley: Serendipity Jones, the fastest sharpshooter in tomorrow's West.

Seventeen-year-old Serendipity "Pity" Jones inherited two things from her mother: a pair of six shooters and perfect aim. She's been offered a life of fame and fortune in Cessation, a glittering city where lawlessness is a way of life. But the price she pays for her freedom may be too great....

In this extraordinary debut from Lyndsay Ely, the West is once again wild after a Second Civil War fractures the U.S. into a broken, dangerous land. Pity's struggle against the dark and twisted underbelly of a corrupt city will haunt you long after the final bullet is shot.

Why I’m waiting: I new YA Western is coming!!! Yassssssss!!!

Becca’s Pick:

WoW: Gunslinger Girl + WhichwoodWhichwood
by Tahereh Mafi
Series: Furthermore #2
Release Date: November 14th 2017
Publisher: Dutton Books for Young Readers
Genres: Fantasy, Middle Grade
Find It: Goodreads

A new adventure about a girl who is fated to wash the bodies of the dead in this companion to Furthermore.

Our story begins on a frosty night…

Laylee can barely remember the happier times before her beloved mother died. Before her father, driven by grief, lost his wits (and his way). Before she was left as the sole remaining mordeshoor in the village of Whichwood, destined to spend her days washing the bodies of the dead and preparing their souls for the afterlife. It’s become easy to forget and easier still to ignore the way her hands are stiffening and turning silver, just like her hair, and her own ever-increasing loneliness and fear.

But soon, a pair of familiar strangers appears, and Laylee’s world is turned upside down as she rediscovers color, magic, and the healing power of friendship.

Why I’m waiting: I absolutely loved the magic and world building of Furthermore! When I heard there was going to be a companion novel I was so excited! I can’t wait to read Whichwood! It sounds just as magical but with an intriguing dark side!

What are you waiting on this week?

  • Wow, both Gunslinger Girl & Whichwood both look amazing! Though Whichwood does seem more up my alley. I think I’ll add both, because I definitely need to broaden my horizons and branch out into new genres 🙂
