Leave it to the heroes to save the world--villains just want to rule the world.
In this unique YA anthology, thirteen acclaimed, bestselling authors team up with thirteen influential BookTubers to reimagine fairy tales from the oft-misunderstood villains' points of view.
These fractured, unconventional spins on classics like "Medusa," Sherlock Holmes, and "Jack and the Beanstalk" provide a behind-the-curtain look at villains' acts of vengeance, defiance, and rage--and the pain, heartbreak, and sorrow that spurned them on. No fairy tale will ever seem quite the same again!

Q. Villains!! (Can you tell I’m a fan? *evil grin*) Can you tell us a bit about how the villains will shine in these short stories?
A. Well, I haven’t yet had the pleasure of reading the other stories in the anthology, but in my story “Indigo and Shade” I focused on a character everyone loves to hate: Gaston from the Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. I took some of his characteristics and transferred them onto my young, wealthy, arrogant main character, Brahm Valois. Brahm lives in a small town in the Rockies—a place haunted by a dangerous beast that lives in the surrounding woods.
Q. I love that this is a collaborative effort involving Booktubers. Can you share with us a little behind-the-scenes fun while creating this book, or a bit about how the Booktubers were included in this process?
A. I was prompted by the Booktuber Whitney to write about Beauty and the Beast, focusing on the vain, brawny, sexist, thick-necked villain Gaston. I had a lot of fun turning this idiot antagonist into a character I could relate to, at least on some level.
Q. What would you like us, as readers, to take away from your short story, in particular?
A. My story shares some of the basic themes of the original fairy tale: exile, self-sacrifice, and the fact that appearances can be deceiving.
